Falls Lake
Located in North Carolina
Falls Lake is located in the piedmont region of North Carolina, about 20 miles north of Raleigh. It was created in 1983 by the construction of Falls Dam on the Neuse River, and covers an area of 12,410 acres.
The lake is a popular recreational destination for fishing, boating, camping, hiking, picnicking, and swimming. It has several access points and boat ramps, as well as four recreational areas - Holly Point, Rolling View, B.W. Wells, and Shinleaf.
Falls Lake is also a source of drinking water for the city of Raleigh and several other municipalities in the area. It is managed by the US Army Corps of Engineers in partnership with the state of North Carolina.
